The planetary situation looks bleak, but together, it is still possible to create positive change. With 60% of the world’s population, 4.3 billion people, and more than 50% of global consumption, the Asia-Pacific region must take the lead in transforming the planet.

Soil is important to us because it is a vital carbon pool, containing a considerable amount of CO2 and is affected by moderate to severe erosion in over 80% of agricultural and natural grassland areas in the EU-27, according to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).
One of the factors contributing to the high cost of food on our tables is the greenhouse gas emissions caused by our food systems. The European Environmental Bureau estimates that these emissions account for 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions, while other sources estimate the number could be as high as one-third. This is an important consideration when examining the overall cost of food.
